Adventurous ride from Petra to Wadi Rum

Discover the breathtaking scenery of “Laurence of Arabia”
The nature in Jordan is very diverse, breathtakingly beautiful and rugged. One of its natural wonders is the most impressive desert landscape in the world; Wadi Rum. This vast, echoing and colourful desert is a true paradise for nature lovers. The ride takes you from the mountainous area of Petra to the vast sand plains and steep rock formations of Wadi Rum.

Accommodation:
During this unique trip through Jordan you will stay in several good hotels and in tents during the ride.
The sanitary facilities during the ride will be very basic. Daily you enjoy delicious Arabic dishes like ‘sanniya’ (hot dish with vegetables, potatoes and chicken),
‘maglouba’ (rice with spices and chicken or meat) or barbeque and fresh salads and fresh fruit for dessert.

Horses:
You will mainly ride Arabian horses from Jordan, Syria and Iraq, some are crosses. Riders must be fit, able to trot, canter and gallop at ease and have experience in trail riding. All saddles are English and every horse has a bit according to his temperament. The saddle pads have pockets for small water bottles, camera, sunscreen, etc.

8-day tour with 4 days horse riding:
Day 1: You arrive at the airport in Amman and you are taken to your hotel. Tonight you have dinner with the group and with your guide who will inform you about your journey.

Day 2: A 3 hour drive on the ‘desert highway’ takes you to Petra, a UNESCO world heritage and since 2007 one of the New 7 Wonders. Today you discover this historical city of the Nabateans. Tonight your hosts, Rami and Jessica, invite you for a traditional Mansef dinner at their home. You spend the night in a good 3* hotel in Petra.

Day 3: This morning the ride starts from the stables. Beautiful mountain paths take you to the little village of Rajev and the viewpoint of Dlaaga where you spend the night in tents. The pace is set by the experience of the group and by the area where we ride. Today you enjoy beautiful views over Petra, Wadi Araba and the village of Taybet.

Day 4: Today you continue over mountain paths and through valleys where many Bedouin families still live so there is a great possibility that you see their typical tents or that you see them herd their goats and sheep over the mountains.
In the course of this day the area becomes flatter so the pace can be raised and from here you can already see the famous Wadi Rum desert. You spend the night close to Abbasyia in tents.

Day 5: This morning you ride to Humayma where you dismount and lead your horse safely to the other side of the highway. You are now in the north part of Wadi Rum; here the excellent sand roads are perfect for relaxed trotting and cantering. You spend the night in the area of the Gharaza Bridge in tents.

Day 6: Enjoying the view, the bizarre rock formations, the dunes and the numberless colours of the sand you ride through the breathtaking scenery of “Laurence of Arabia”. In the late afternoon you arrive in Disi where you say goodbye to the horses and to the local team.
You spend the night at the Oasis Desert Camp where you can wash away all the dust and the sand of the desert and where you enjoy a nice dinner.

Day 7: After breakfast in the Oasis Desert Camp you have a transfer to the Moevenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea where you enjoy floating in the Dead Sea; the lowest body of water on earth and one of the most spectacular and spiritual landscapes in the world.
